Paradise (June 16, 1914)

 

   This drought was joyfully broken by a good rain, Monday, and everything is looking fine.

   Everyone is putting out their barley.

   Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Boggess, of Sigman, were calling on their daughter, Mrs. Melvin Crago, Friday.

   Mr. and Mrs. Elben Crago are visiting Mrs. Crago's mother, Mrs. Dora Blake.

   Mrs. L.A. Higginbotham and son, Pearl, of St. Albans, have returned home after a short visit with friends at Paradise.

   Mrs. Edith Parkins has moved back to her home place.

   Born to Mr and Mrs. Horton Parkins, a boy.

   Elza McKee and family of Sigman, were visiting at S.D. McCormick's, Sunday.

   Several people from here attended the baptizing near Grandview Sunday.

   Mr. and Mrs. Doc Hartley and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Williams, of Manila, were calling on O.H. Parkins, Sunday.

   Warren Parkins is on the sick list.

   Several people from this place attended church at Antioch Sunday where two able sermons were delivered by Rev. T.P. Turley.

   Sunday school is progressing nicely at Antioch with Prof. W.W. Smith as superintendent.  Everybody come.

   Howard Reveal, of Lock 7 and Miss Inez Harmon, of Confidence, were quietly married at Winfield last Wednesday.  We extend our congratulations.

   News reached this place of the marriage of Vinton Pauley and Miss Diana Landers, on Sunday June 7th.  Both parties are widely known and they have many friends who join in wishing them happiness and success in this earthly career.  They will reside at Heizer, where Mr. Pauley is engaged in the mercantile business.
